Bomber Jacket

The jacket is worked from the top down, holding 1 strand of each quality together, and has a cropped, oversized fit with elasticated ribbing at the waist and cuffs. Stitches are first cast on for the back, which is worked back and forth with short rows to shape a deeper back neckline and sloping shoulders. Stitches are then picked up along each shoulder for the right and left front pieces, which are worked with increases for the neckline and down to the underarms. The front pieces are joined with the back and worked back and forth to full length. Stitches are picked up around each armhole for the sleeves, which are worked in the round in stockinette stitch and finished with double ribbing. A double-knitted button band is worked along each front piece before the neckband is worked in ribbing and folded double to the wrong side. Finally, the pockets are knitted and sewn on, and elastic is threaded through the double ribbing at the waist and on each sleeve.
