Strømpegarn (sock yarn)
40% alpaca, 40% merino wool and 20% nylon
Strømpegarn (sock yarn) is a soft, durable utility yarn reinforced with nylon. This makes it ideal for socks and slippers.
In this blend, the yarn retains the softness and insulating properties of the alpaca fiber, while the merino wool provides lightness and elasticity. Both alpaca and wool have good heat-regulating properties. Merino wool is not only insulating, but also wicks moisture away from the body and retains heat even when moist, thanks to the structure of the fibers. Wool can absorb up to 30% of its own weight in water before it starts to feel wet.
For machine washing, we recommend that all wool garments be washed separately on a wool program, to ensure the gentlest treatment. Centrifuge well and dry the garment flat, preferably on top of a towel. Never use a laundry bag when washing hand-knitted wool garments. This creates friction that can cause the garment to felt.
