Alpakka

100% alpaca

About product

Alpakka is a soft and comfortable yarn that is about three times warmer than ordinary wool and thus the most insulating yarn in our product range. The fiber is hollow and breathable, so it feels warm in cold temperatures and cool in warm ones. Alpaca fiber does not contain lanolin.

Our alpaca is of Superfine quality, the term used for alpaca fiber between 25-26 microns (micrometers) and is one of the softest alpaca grades used for hand-knitting yarn.

The same fiber is used in both Alpakka and Mini Alpakka, but in different thicknesses - Alpakka is a 4-ply yarn and Mini Alpakka is a 3-ply yarn.

For machine washing, we recommend that all wool garments be washed separately on a wool program, to ensure the gentlest treatment. Centrifuge well and dry the garment flat, preferably on top of a towel. Never use a laundry bag when washing hand-knitted wool garments. This creates friction that can cause the garment to felt.
